This challenge offers a unique opportunity for individuals to earn a free certification exam by completing a challenge aligned with one of the eligible Microsoft exams.

Terms and Conditions


The Microsoft Learn Cloud Skills Challenge starts on May 23, 2023, at 4:00 PM (16:00) UTC and ends on June 20, 2023, at 4:00 PM (16:00) UTC. To participate in the challenge, you need to register and provide an email address, which will be used to contact you with the free certification details.

To be eligible for a free certification exam, you need to complete at least one challenge within the Microsoft Learn Cloud Skills Challenge. However, you can only claim one offer per person, regardless of the number of challenges you complete. The exam offer is valid for select Microsoft exams, including AI-900, AZ-104, AZ-204, AZ-305, AZ-400, DP-420, and PL-400. Each exam is aligned with a specific challenge, which you need to complete to be eligible for the corresponding certification exam.

Government employees must check with their employers to ensure their participation is permitted and in accordance with applicable policies and laws before redeeming the free certification exam offer.

The exam offer may be redeemed to take one Microsoft Certification exam, delivered at an authorized Pearson Vue testing center or through a Pearson Vue online proctoring site. The exam offer redemption window starts on June 30, 2023, and expires on September 27, 2023, inclusive of booking and taking the exam. It is important to note that this exam offer expiration date cannot be extended under any circumstances.

The exam offer is exam-specific and only redeemable for select Microsoft exams. While you can take any of the select eligible exams, you must first achieve the prerequisites to achieve the Microsoft Certification. If you take and pass the expert exam before the prerequisite, then you won’t achieve the Microsoft Certification until you meet all the requirements of that Microsoft Certification.

The eligible exams include AI-900: Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals, AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator, AZ-204: Developing Solutions for Microsoft Azure, AZ-305: Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions, AZ-400: Designing and Implementing Microsoft DevOps Solutions, DP-420: Designing and Implementing Cloud-Native Applications Using Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB, and PL-400: Microsoft Power Platform Developer.

The challenges that align with each exam are as follows:


It is important to note that the exam offer is nontransferable and void if you alter, revise or transfer it in any way. Moreover, you must be older than 14 years of age to participate in the Microsoft Learn Skills Challenge. If Microsoft determines that you are not of the minimum age, you will not be entitled to a free Microsoft Certification exam, and Microsoft reserves the right to legal action against you.
